Artist Statement
I am an emerging artist living and working in Orange County, CA. I spent almost two decades as a career professional in Accounting/Finance, but retired from this field a few years ago to pursue art. Since then, I have completed several college courses in design, color theory, drawing and painting. In addition, I have studied one on one with artists, Kathy Leland from Orange County, CA and Christopher Mathie from Port Orchard, WA. Most recently, I completed the Creative Visionary Path (CVP), a twelve-week art program offered by artist, Nicholas Wilton. I am also one of the founding members of the Art2Life Academy, a global art community that promotes the exchange and sharing of information regarding materials, techniques, and creating a sustainable art practice.
I consider myself a mixed media, abstract artist. I work on paper, canvas and wood panels; and use acrylics, collage, pencils, oils and pastels. My modern, urban abstract compositions are broad in subject and influenced by global events, music, and travels. I often use collaged text, newspaper, and images as a means to incorporate a topic or theme into my work. These collaged elements are often subtle and partially hidden beneath bold shapes, paint, texture, and line; to create an engaging design. I recently participated in my first juried online exhibition through the Art2life Academy. The juror, Donna Seager of Seager Gray Gallery, selected my piece “Re-District” for this exhibition.
Paintings under the “Available Work” section on this site are for sale. In addition, I am open to working with individuals on commissions. Please contact me directly if you are interested.
